The Fairy Stone

The Fairy Stone - Landscape Photography
The Seven Stones of Hordron sit on the shelf of moorland called Moscar Moor, between the northern end of Stanage Edge and the southern end of Derwent Edge.

Despite it's name, there are actually 11 stones of varying sizes above the turf, with 3 more remaining buried. It is thought that as many as 24 could once have completed the circle.

The tallest stone is known as the Fairy Stone and stands at the south western part of the circle facing Win Hill, down which the setting sun seems to 'roll' at Halloween.
